FAQ Total Coat Truck Bed Liner
What is a Liquid Truck Bedliner?
A liquid truck bedliner is a protective coating that is rolled, brushed, or sprayed onto a truck bed to prevent scratches, dents, corrosion, and UV damage.
Can this be applied Under Plastic Drop In Liners?
Yes, liquid bedliners bond directly to the metal surface, creating a seamless, durable, tough barrier that won’t shift, crack, or trap moisture under plastic drop-in liners.
What Surfaces does Total Coat Adhere to?
It can be applied to metal, wood, fiberglass, and some plastics—making it useful for truck beds, trailers, bumpers, off-road vehicles, and toolboxes.
Is the Coating UV Resistant?
Yes, Total Coat Bed Liner is UV resistant, preventing fading when exposed to sunlight.
Is the Truck Bed Liner Paintable?
After letting the Total Coat Bedliner properly cure, you can paint with any paint (solvent or waterborne).
It is impossible for us to test all paints on the market today, but in general, you do not need a primer for the majority of paints sold.
If you want to do a test, you can request a sprayed sample of Bedliner from our website and check the result.
Can I use it on more than just my truck bed?
Yes! It sticks to metal, wood, fiberglass, and more. Perfect for trailers, bumpers, rocker panels, toolboxes, ATV racks—you name it.
Is this Total Coat Truck Bed Liner Watery or Thick?
Total Coat Bedliner has a viscosity of 24.000-40.000 cps ( Brookfield Viscosity at 25 ° C, Spindle Nº7 At 5 RPM) which is similar to the viscosity of honey.
How Much Area Does 1 Bottle Cover?
One quart bottle covers approximately 10–15 square feet of surface area with 2 Coats.
How Does this Product Compare to Raptor Bed Liner?
U-Pol's Raptor is a great product with a good following all over the world.
We differ in several areas:
Chemistry:
- Raptor: Urethane ( 2 part coating ) solvent clean up
- Total Coat: Polymer ( 1 part coating) water clean up
Application:
- Raptor: Fill - Shake - Shoot
You can only mix 1 can at the time and should clean the gun between cans. Once the activator is mixed you have limited time to spray; left over product will harden and cannot be saved.
- Total coat: Shoot
No mixing, No shaking , No stirring, No cleaning of gun during application. Bottle can be closed and unused product can be saved for future use. If you need to take a break , just tie a wet rag around the gun nozzle and you are good for a couple of hours.
Thickness:
- Raptor: recommends not more than 3 coats (5 mils each) for a max of 15 mils
- Total Coat: recommends 2 or 3 coats for a thickness of 30 to 40 mils
Health:
- Raptor: contains isocyanate a cancer causing chemical
- Total Coat: contains no isocyanate
UV Degradation:
- Raptor: Urethane is less resistant to UV degradation and cracking
- Total Coat: Polymer mixture contains UV protection and is more flexible preventing cracking.
